As I sit and dub the old episodes of Blake's Seven, I am reminded that yes, the special effects are a bit south of those on Doctor Who (the old one), and yes, the acting and scripts are both -- variable. But man, there's nothing quite like, when you need the Generic Villain of the Week, being able to get Brian Blessed from central casting, chewing the scenery in great gobbets as only he can do...

A productive day

• Last areas of leaves "raked" (actually mowed) into bags, just in time for the last town pickup of the year -- check.


• Eight episodes of Blake's Seven, plus one movie, dubbed onto DVD -- check.


• Catching up with Heroes, just in time for tomorrow's much-advertised Big Episode -- check.


• A bunch more progress on the Girl Genius game, which is starting to look more like a game and less like a random collection of notes -- check.


• And a thorough victory for the Pats, as the icing on the cake.

Nothing quite like a quiet weekend to feel like I'm actually getting somewhere...
