Yeah, but it's still relatively self-selected for your general background -- in particular, the intellectual set that has been skeptical about US auto makers for decades. AFAIK, you *mostly* hang out with various sorts of Weirdians; there are a lot of us, but most people are still Mainlanders.

The fact is that the big three still sell something on the order of half the cars in this country, so it's pretty clear that your friends aren't statistically representative...
