I've never read Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, but I've wanted to for quite some time.
I commend it, although I have to admit that I haven't read it in many a year. Have to do that again. (As well as reread The 21 Balloons, another great favorite of mine from the same general period.)
I've been very interested in Freemasonry -- my father and grandfather were Masons, and I think some of my uncles as well. But I'm not sure whether it'd be right to join an explicitly all-male order when I don't know whether I'm going to remain male in the future.
<beat>
Y'know, it's been a long time since I've heard a new and reasonable reason why someone might not want to join. I honestly can't advise you on this -- it's a fairly novel situation.
That said, feel free to ask questions if you have any. I'm always happen to blather on both the theory and practice of Masonry.
