The buying-it-twice I'm willing to live with in many cases: an original CD is typically cleaner than anything I can get from a ripped LP or tape. But the can't-be-found is a compelling argument in many cases. (Need to go work my way through the Clams collection: lots of tapes and one LP, none of have been released on CD except as excepts, AFAIK...)
