Following up: yep, looks like we could get it for $10/month. So the implication is that buying an ordinary Series 2 TiVo doesn't make any sense at all. The Series 3 TiVo (which is a *lot* beefier than the Comcast box) is still intriguing, but expensive enough that I don't know if it's worth the extra cost. We might well go with this option -- thanks for suggesting it...
