The Big Stories (Mainly DC)

Ofercrynowtlowd!

Are you serious? After all this tsuris and angst, over -- what? -- a decade or so? -- they put it all back (more or less) the way it was?

Now, mind you, I was happy with the old original DCU that I grew up with, starting in, well, the fifties. I mean, yes, I liked that comics grew up with me; those collections of classic tales from my youth strike me as cringingly quaint, but the universe they happened in, I understood it and was comfortable with it. Trying to follow all the changes through the various crises, that was work. And now they're telling me "Never mind"?

They're gonna have to issue a new DC Encyclopedia. And I'm gonna get suckered into buying it. And then they're gonna change everything again, aren't they?

I also note that the major changes seem to have involved, or at least seem to have been effected by means of, a gaggle of really D-list characters. I mean, really, Animal Man? Black Adam? Even Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle? Elongated Man was a great character, so human and accessible, but who outside of the dedicated fan community even knew he existed? He was upstaged by that clown, Plastic Man, for decades. No one is going to make a summer box-office blockbuster movie outta these guys. What I really want to know is the status of the A-list stars: basically the JLA. So what's the point of all this?

As for the Marvel 'verse, sounds like a great story, done well (albeit disturbingly). Sorry I missed it. But I can't believe they're going to leave it in the current state.
