I've looked into EC2 a bit. Problem is, I'm not impressed by their database story, as I've heard it -- it makes a fair amount of sense for loosely-structured data, but I fail to see how it can be *remotely* efficient for the sort of highly-structured DB calls I need to make. So far the moment I'm skeptical about it as an option, at least for my current needs...
