Inventory

It's always a little scary when hobbies coincide -- in this case, cooking and biblioholism. (And the SCA.)

[livejournal.com profile] msmemory and I just inventoried the cookbook collection, so that we don't buy any duplicates while we're at Pennsic. It comes to something over 230 volumes, not counting dupes. 140 of them are more or less on the subject of historical cooking. (Defining "historical" as roughly "pre-20th century".)

Not that we've actually used more than a quarter of those, mind. But they're so much fun to just wander aimlessly through. And one of them is a bibliography of pre-1800 cookbooks in English, so I sense another visit to the microfilm library in my future...

Crazed for Cookbooks

I don't like cooking and don't eagerly collect cookbooks, yet somehow, I have two shelves of them. Through gifts, inheritance and a few what-was-I-thinking shopping sprees they wound up here. So, I understand why you wound up with duplicates. They seem to reproduce when we blink.

And rest assured, I'm not interested in duplicates.
