Dangerous drinks

Note for the future: the combination of 1 part bourbon to 3 parts strong ginger ale (which recipe was placed in my head by one of my friends' LJs, plus the presence of Blenheim in the house) is a frighteningly efficient way to get blitzed, possibly even moreso than the Long Island Lemonade. The sweetness of the bourbon cuts the strength of the ginger ale; the strength of the ginger ale cuts the flavor of the alcohol. The result is that it drinks more easily than either, and I wind up gulping instead of sipping...

Oh yeah, it's a nice combination. I think that the quality ginger ales (Schweppes or Canada Dry, not the too sweet, too flat, nearly gingerless store brands) make the difference. And try it with a thin lemon slice. Some species of "real" bourbon lovers may complain, but let 'em. After 3 or 4 of these highballs, you won't care anyway. Oh, and instead of Kentucky bourbon, try Jack Daniels. And plenty of ice. This is my new favorite summer drink.
