Also, I can't leave my current employer in good conscience at the moment: there's too much depending on my current project, and it would leave them in the lurch.
Finally, there's the simple fact that, while Google Wave is cool, I actually find the open-source infrastructure the more interesting project, with more potential to change the world in the long run. Google can cheat, with internal hacks and poorly-defined APIs, and simply throw processor power at problems; the open-source stuff has to be more open, honest and sensible...
