The one trial I served on was interesting in similar ways, though from the opposite side. The defense basically said "She said this is what happened" though her deposition testimony was different from what she said in trial and the prosecution presented quite a bit of evidence to prove she was lying. We had 2 people who were holding out for giving her money (civil trial) because they felt sorry for her, not because of any evidence.
