Right. We don't worry that the universe is ending every December 31st... we just go out and by a new freaking calendar.
The real problem is the misinterpretation. This is supposed to be the fourth world that the gods made. The third world ended after 13 cycles, and December 21st is when this world finishes up 13 cycles. So if you think the world is ending you are pessimistically thinking the gods can't improve on what they did the last time around...
