Careful where your arguments lead you...

Mr. Bush today, in vetoing the stem cell research bill, argued that it would be morally repugnant to ask the American taxpayer to be asked to pay for a project that would lead to the end of a number of (arguable) human lives.

Okay, fine -- let's take that argument at face value. I, the American taxpayer, am currently being forced to pay for a project that is not only vastly more expensive, it has taken not hundreds but thousands of (unquestionable) human lives, and seems certain to continue doing so. That project is the War in Iraq. Are you, Mr. Bush, willing to grant that that, too, is a morally repugnant thing to do? No, somehow I didn't think so...

Please, those are godless heathens who will never grow up to be neo-con voters. Those poor american soldiers who die in the process of killing them are doing the lords work, are going to heaven so it is OK.

Yes I my tongue is so far into my cheek it hurts, but I really wonder...

Well, no. In reality, it's all going on the national credit card. Which actually strengthens your point -- in my opinion, anyway.

Your argument breaks down when you realize that those "people" over there arent humans, ergo, they can not possess human lives.

I feel unclean for having written that.

No, these are not human lives. They are unborn potential human lives - we protect those.

It's real lives we squander.

Have the states put it on the ballot and also pay for it through state funds.

Ah... but the difference is that the War in Iraq is helping to spread democracy throughout the region, which over time will help to save far more lives than are being lost now. As opposed to stem cell research which, um... well... never mind.
