It is oddly comforting to receive the daily emails of who has tried to break into commyou.com. While it's not great that the attempts are happening, it does show me that everything's up and running, and working hard to keep the system running on an even keel...

When I was first putting OSCAR online, we had a problem that there were a bunch of user accounts getting created by spam-bots which only wanted to start putting malware-infected URLs into things.

I forget how I fixed it, but I haven't gotten anything like that in ... years.

This isn't really sort of hack -- this is general break-in attempts. The firewall bans IPs attempting to hack the system, and reports those attempts. There are a lot of them.

But yeah, I'm well familiar with the kind of attack you describe, although the ones I've been hit with in the past (mostly in wikis) have usually been focused on SEO spam rather than malware...
