Masa -- brunch

Okay, yes -- I'm spending too much time talking about one restaurant. (Nor is that stopping, since we're going there for my birthday.) Suffice it to say, it's a delightful change of pace having a good restaurant in this neck of the woods.

Anyway: for those who enjoy the artform that is Brunch, I can strongly commend Masa in Woburn. (Warning: website automatically plays music. They can't be perfect in every way, I suppose.) We went there with my mother yesterday, and it was every bit as excellent as their dinners. It started with their usual bread basket: I had a couple of Jalepeno biscuits, mostly with the Habanero jelly on them. (Not actually scary-hot, but it did have a fine sweet tang.) The Huevos Rancheros were excellent: two perfect sunny-side up eggs over slightly crisped tortillas and a black bean sauce, topped with fresh sour cream and pico de gallo. Mom and msmemory both had the Eggs Benedict with home fries.

Price was a little high but not outrageous for a high-end restaurant including 2 cocktails and coffee: about $20/person plus tip. And this time, the service was solid: neither pushy nor slow.

So a fine weekend brunch option, if you're interested in a southwestern take on the idea. And they're apparently opening up for weekday lunches next week...

If they're open for brunch on President's Day and I'm in town, I'd be interested in finding a group of brunch people with the day off.

Yaas. My birthday (observed) is Tuesday: that's when we're going out. msmemory and I do the (observed) thing frequently -- by necessity, given how crazy our schedules sometimes are...
