Best name choice ever?

[Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] _lackey_!]

As I happen to scan around the various iTunes music libraries on the network here at work (three out of four of which would answer "Yes" below), I am inspired to run a simple poll.

[Poll #1449834]

It *was*, but I purposely changed the sort order for that song to avoid it!

Before that it was "Hold On Loosely", by .38 Special. But I changed that one's sort order too.

Abney Park - Airship Pirate :)

Mine sorts by Name, so I got Accidentally In Love by Counting Crows first, something I forgot I had. After that is Acclamation (a Quire practice piece), Agincourt Carol, Air des Bouffons, and so on. I do have some non-period things, but they are vastly outnumbered.

Is band the same as Artist? My first Artist is Accademia Viscontea I Musicanti, making the first track Leoncello. Hunh, at the bottom I have 79 tracks with NO artist info. I also have some stuff in there I forgot about entirely, some of which I'm not sure where or when I got it. Wonder if a judicious fling is in order?

My iPod's first track is "Leoncello Vecchio" [on shawms, yet!], from Accademia Viscontea I Musicanti's Mesura Et Arte Del Danzare: Balli Italiani Del Quattrocento, which is actually pretty convenient: it's the first track that plays when my clock radio's alarm goes off :-D

I actually do own that a-ha recording, but only on LP....

It's fine with me that this is at the top, though, because it's one of my favorite songs evar. :)

If I turn on my iPod, the first song is A La Lune from La Nouba (Cirque Du Soleil). If I instead choose Artists-All > Albums-All, then the first song is Hubba Hubba Zoot~Zoot by Caramba, because the album title is Absolute Number One.

Aaron Copeland -- but "A-ha" would be first if I had the song.

(I actually expected "702", since in the file listings, that sorts first. But apparently iTunes thinks differently.)

Don't own the song, but I do apparently own 65 tracks by A. R. Rahman.

Sorting by Artist (the implied sort in your question), my first track is Crucifixus by A. Lotti. The first non-classical artist is AC-DC. I do have 'Take On Me', but the versions are either in Compilation albums (not listed with the other artists), or are covers, usually a cappella covers.

[identity profile] new-man.livejournal.com 2009-08-27 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope... Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man". Pretty classy, if I say so myself ;-)

Hm. I don't have an iTunes library, as I don't have an iPod. No digital media player at all, so no burned music.

I'm not sure if I feel more like a rugged individual, or a luddite :)

"Fanfare for the Common Man," Aaron Copland.

Sorted by Artist, I have "Goody Two Shoes" by Adam Ant, from the Hot Fuzz soundtrack.

I do have "Take On Me," but it's a ska cover by a band called Reel Big Fish. I also have two covers of "Paint It Black," one by Inkubus Sukkubus and an instrumental one by Rick Wakeman, a cover of "Comfortably Numb" by Staind, the version of "All Along The Watchtower" from Battlestar Galactica by Bear McCreary, "Another Brick In The Wall" as interpreted by Korn, an entire album called "When Pigs Fly," which is full of covers ("Shock The Monkey" sung by Don Ho! What's not to love?), and of course, "Sabbatum" by Rondellus, which is Black Sabbath's greatest hits translated into Latin and played on medieval instruments. We used "Magus (The Wizard)" for our wedding processional. I thought it a better choice than "Verres Militares (War Pigs)"

So... yeah. I love covers.

My first song is "A = The Sound of the Letter A" - From Sesame Street.

Mac copy of iTunes: Altramar, "May Song".
Windows copy of iTunes: haven't run it in a while and don't remember which machine it's on.
iPod[*]: first by artist is Acacia Sears, "George's Tongue"; first under 'all' is Echo's Children, "Acts of Creation".

(I was nervous about reformatting my hand-me-down Mac-formatted iPod to Windows (uh, NTFS??), so I synced to [livejournal.com profile] anniemal's Mac long before I got the hand-me-down Mac I'm using now ... so my iPod and my laptop have completely different playlists on 'em as I haven't gotten around to working out how to tell the iPod, "No, this is your new home.")

"The Crafty Maid's Policy" by A. Robins. Never heard of A-ha.

[identity profile] serakit.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Mine sorts by album-- I tend to think of albums as complete works. The first thing I get is "Fallen" by Sarah Mclachlan, which comes on the "Afterglow" album.

Mine's set to sort "Album by Artist"...so the first song is "Celice" by a-Ha, the first track from their 2005 album "Analogue".

My sort was by "Kind" (since I'm in the midst of re-ripping to replace AACs with MP3s), which throws up "Messages from Jupiter" by Acid Rockers, "The Shadow Knows" 8-second quote/laughter by Alec Baldwin, and "Spartacus (Main Title)" by Alex North as the first three.

If I sort by Artist, I get "Seoul" by aanima, "I Am The City" by Abba, and Stigmata Martyr by Abney Park as the top three.
