2 to the 16th, divided by 2. It's one of those magic numbers that any programmer of my generation knows by heart.

(Being able to count the powers of 2 was a basic programming skill for many years, in part because many programs would break when they hit this number...)

There were a few reasons to know that number when I was a CS major too, but it was only rarely necessary by the early 90's.
