Rent-a-Protester

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dmnsqrl for this link to an article in Der Spiegel. Short version: a website in Germany has made the jump to the logical next step after astroturfing -- they will rent demonstrators for you, at reasonable rates.

Every time I think "okay, that's just too ridiculous to be real", the world proves me wrong...

How much does it cost just to have a politician legislate for me?

It reminds me of hiring professional mourners.
The world is a weird, weird place.

I can just see their pricing structure:
Protester: $10/hr
singing: $13/hr
singing well: $17/hr
with sign: $12/hr
sign spelled correctly $15/hr

and:
Protester gets picked up for disturbing the peace $50/hr
Statements to the media by protestor $10 each

Disturbing the peace

Plus legal fees...and medical bills.
