Thanks to dmnsqrl for this link to an article in Der Spiegel. Short version: a website in Germany has made the jump to the logical next step after astroturfing -- they will rent demonstrators for you, at reasonable rates.

Every time I think "okay, that's just too ridiculous to be real", the world proves me wrong...
