I was the classic double-knit nerd Come again? Do you mean polyester?
Same difference. "Double-knit" was a common weave of polyester at the time, IIRC. It's singularly unpleasant stuff, probably a large element of why I so instinctively dislike 70's fashions even today...
I have one bottle of scotch. It's a $45 bottle of MacAllen's (I think). I walked into the liquor store and said, "I appear to only like expensive scotch. Please find me your most expensive bottle that's less than $50." And this is what I got. I don't drink it very often, either.
Actually, I'd bet that it's as much a function of type as of expense. Cheap scotch is vile stuff, but there are lots of $25 bottles that are very tasty. However, there are several major subclasses of scotch that are wildly different from each other. For example, I'm partial to Islay Malts, which are extremely rich in peat flavor. Needless to say, there are lots of people who can't stand Islay Malt, no matter how good or expensive it is. By contrast, most folks are fond of smooth Highland Malts, which I find just plain boring.
Thanks, Justin. I don't think I knew more than 5 of these facts, previous to you being on livejournal. :) I see this as a triumph of the medium.
Well, you got the ball rolling. (At least, yours was the first one I saw.) So thanks back for that. And I'm glad to have someone reading who actually learned something about me. msmemory was only surprised by one entry (the trampoline story), which I had somehow apparently never gotten around to telling her..
