That's a bit tangential to my point, but yes, these are common problems. In general, the concept of ownership of group property tends to be very fast and loose, and is often inconsistent even within a single system.

In a way, I suppose that's partly because of the above issues: since there isn't a clear division between the abstractions, things tend to wind up very ad hoc, without any underlying principles...
