Engineers looking for a bit of food for thought should go take a look at this magnificently sardonic presentation, a recent talk on the next forty years of software engineering -- from the viewpoint of 1973. The mildly depressing upshot is that, in the grand scheme of things, we have made *astonishingly* little progress in the intervening decades, mostly because the industry got locked into a very stultified mindset.
Well worth the half hour. And I have to say, stuff like this makes me happier about the approach I've taken to Querki, throwing out as many assumptions as possible and just building the system I want to *use*...
