It's not age discrimination, so much as the fact that so many programmers with current skills are wanting that they snapped up right of out school. we generally hire about 4 to 1 - schools to "off the street", and generally seem push for experience in specific positions that may require it, for example when we needed an experienced DBA to manage an infrastructural transition.
