The rallying cry of the labor movement, back in the day, was "eight for work, eight for sleep, eight for what you will." We *start* losing that-- jobs start requiring time in those off-eight to be competitive-- we start slipping back to what we're already slipping back to, the days when sixteen-hour days were required and employees had time for nothing other than work and sleep, no personal lives, no anything.
