staralshain makes a good case for keeping yourself involved with the political mess, even if you really want it to just go away. I commend
this article -- short, and to the point.
All I can really add is what I've found in all political arguments, large and small, down the years. The best thing to do is understand the situation, decide where the right in the matter lies, stick to your guns and keep talking about it. And most importantly, be patient and settle in for the long haul. Changing things today is usually hard, and often impossible. But what we do and say today plants the seeds of tomorrow's decisions, and everybody matters, since American politics is all about the aggregated views of the people. So stay calm and keep pointing it out when the emperor has no clothes, but don't let the politics dominate your thoughts or your life, because it's going to take a while to make things better.
Or more concisely: keeping caring and keep talking, but don't get obsessed or it'll make you nuts.
(I have to admit, it's at moments like this that I'm almost grateful for all the political nonsense I've been through in my various clubs -- it's given me a little perspective on these things...)
