I recall this argument turning up in the Claremont X-Men. Magneto (in one of his relatively good-guy peripds) was arguing in favor of himself as benevolent dictator. Cyclops pointed out the traditional counter-argument of "who succeeds you?" IIRC, Magneto replied "What do you think I've been brooming *you* for?"
