The Battle for Portland, and the battle for American democracy

If you aren't aware of what's going on in Portland, you need to get informed, and now. The Trumpies, seeing a fairly likely electoral defeat, are moving into full-on fascist tactics -- kidnapping people off the street, shooting at protesters, sending in the military over the objections of local government. This is one of the most all-hands-on-deck moments in American history: we need to all make it clear that we're not going to put up with this sort of unconstitutional bullshit.

And let me be clear: no excuses, no equivocating, no letting Putin and his social media army divide us into camps of squabbling idiots. I'm usually the relativist in the room, but we're getting into very clear good vs. evil territory here. If the Republican Party has decided that conquering uncooperative cities through military force (which is what we're edging into) is okay with them, we need to make clear that we are not okay with the Republican Party's leadership at any level...
