Furniture looking for good homes
Sep. 5th, 2021 05:32 pmI've been mostly radio silent recently -- that's because my mother's health has gotten somewhat complicated, and we've decided that we need to move her NowNowNow. She's going from a one-bedroom apartment to a slightly smaller one-bedroom, so most of the furniture is coming with, but a couple of pieces are still looking for good homes.
The time-critical bit is the desk:
It is an IKEA corner desk, from their Mikael line. Not fancy (it's IKEA), but quite decent -- I had an identical one as my main computer desk for a number of years before I switched to a standing desk.
I disassembled it this afternoon, so it's pretty portable -- the only bit that doesn't fit easily into pretty much any car is the desk surface, which is roughly 48" x 48". Still, it'll fit into more cars with a little shoehorning:
All parts are included, including the original instructions, so it's not hard to put back together: it just needs a Philips-head screwdriver, and an IKEA-style Allen wrench or appropriate drill/screwdriver bit. (I don't have a spare one of those, but they're not hard to get.)
This needs to go away immediately -- the movers are arriving Friday morning, and it's going to my aunt and uncle's garage if it's still there. And thence maybe to charity, and maybe to trash -- we'll see. I'd prefer it find a good home.
That's in Burlington (MA, near the Mall). Drop me a note if you're interested, and let's talk about a pickup time.
The other item is less of a rush, but seems like something that surely one of my friends would want:
That's a portable but surprisingly sturdy (and heavy) sewing table. The top surface is 40" x 20", and it folds down to about 4" thick. It's rather nice.
That's currently in my basement in Somerville -- again, drop me a note if you're interested.
