Sometimes, the ads just know...

So I just got up to the story about the twits who let WifeSwap misrepresent the SCA. That led me to a BBS thread where the couple defend themselves, none too ably -- as a lot of people there point out, regardless of how little "reality TV" has to do with reality, altogether too many people *do* believe this stuff. There's nothing in this exercise except tsurris for the SCA, as we get to spend the next year dealing with people whose first reaction is, "Hey, were you those loonies on TV?".
And there, at the bottom of the page, after that entire aggravating thread, is the advertisement: "Lower Your Blood Pressure" with this "clinically proven device". Perfect product placement, if ever I've seen it...

Date: 2006-03-16 08:11 pm (UTC)This is why I was singing "Donahue" last night... Not so much the "people will do anything to get on TV", but moreso that people will believe anything they see on a "reality" TV show, and will run with the image they are handed to paint with a broad brush. :/
