Mr. Bush today, in vetoing the stem cell research bill, argued that it would be morally repugnant to ask the American taxpayer to be asked to pay for a project that would lead to the end of a number of (arguable) human lives.
Okay, fine -- let's take that argument at face value. I, the American taxpayer, am currently being forced to pay for a project that is not only vastly more expensive, it has taken not hundreds but thousands of (unquestionable) human lives, and seems certain to continue doing so. That project is the War in Iraq. Are you, Mr. Bush, willing to grant that that, too, is a morally repugnant thing to do? No, somehow I didn't think so...
