Actually, we've made a conscious decision to set the game slightly in the past -- just before the Sturmhalten storyline begins. (Which, odd though it seems, is probably only about three days ago: it's been a long three days.)

So if people get killed, people get killed. I'm going to try to fit in backstory that gets revealed when possible, but we're officially not worrying about significant world changes at this point...
