Interesting. Brandeis' old Usdan Student Center is of the same vintage and motivation, but they took a totally different approach. Instead of making it awkward, they made it extremely *open*, in response to students taking over and occupying some of the older buildings. So they created something with a vast number of doors and entrances -- specifically (AFAIK) so that the riot police could storm the place easily. Easy to take, but hard to defend...
