I don't know what "all the tricks" means for you, but I've found that a relaxing bath and chamomile tea helps me a lot. I also have a CD that I play only when I'm getting to sleep.

Also, make sure that the bed is only for sleep and recreational activities with [livejournal.com profile] msmemory. If you do other stuff in bed (read, watch TV, etc) then your brain won't realize that the bed is for sleep and will want to do something else.
