Apparently, MS has finally bowed to public pressure, and will be making IE 8's new "super-standard mode" (that is to say, the mode in which IE is actually standards-compliant) the default. They've been resisting this, claiming that backward compatibility was more important, but finally caved due to various pressures.
Dare we hope that, going forward, we will get to stop spending half our Web-development time dealing with the incompatibilities between IE and Firefox?
