Intellectually, I know that I'm unlikely to use more than a dozen business cards in the whole time I'm at Applied Messaging. (On prior trends, anyway -- I tend not to be out and dealing with clients a lot. Historically, most of my business cards wind up being micro-notepads sitting next to the phone at home after I leave the company.)

But y'know, there's something about having that big block of sharp new cards landing on my desk that tells me that I am actually employed for real again. Exactly why a $3 box of paper smells like commitment to me, I'm not quite sure; I suppose it's part of the whole corporate brainwashing thing. But it does make me feel oddly more secure...

and of course, business cards + a penknife make a wonderful construction toy, which I seem to recall seeing a lot of in your work areas...

Well, y'know, congrats on feeling secure. And feel free to let me know if you need a secretary. :)
