I was in a lazy mood for dinner tonight, so mostly did take-home from Whole Foods. But to assuage my conscience, I decided that we'd better use the lovely fresh green beans that [livejournal.com profile] ladysprite gave us last week, before they went bad. So today's food experiment was adapting a favorite pasta preparation for green beans instead. The result was quite good, so I've put Veggies in Mushroom Sauce into our cookbook. Not exactly healthy, but tasty, and almost entirely made of stuff we keep on hand...

I haven't been eating much of anything (I complained that Kraft mac&cheese was "too rich and spicy" yesterday), but you know ... that recipe sounds seriously yummy.

I've copied it and I think I'll send elric out for the few things I'm missing from it and will experiment with some veggies and maybe angel hair pasta. :)

I have dinner for tomorrow. Yay!

'Splain to me how porcini and cream and butter could be "bad". (:-)

(If one is lazy, Trader Joes used to make a "Hunter's Sauce" that was a great mushroom sauce. And fat-free, so you would add butter. :-)

Did you steam the veggies over the mushroom broth? If I have such to hand, I often use it. (Lately I've also taken to adding some strong spices to the steaming water and heating to a boil slowly to give it more time to infuse. Then steam.)
