So our traditional post-Thanksgiving dish is Turkey Chili. It having been a couple of weeks, though, we had to make sure that the leftover turkey was still good. Fortunately, we have an extremely practiced and acute nose available to us.

So a 1/4 lb tithe to the feline gods (well, to Merlin, anyway) has produced a verdict that yes, the turkey is still perfectly fine and can he have some more now? We are reminded also of the sheer scrubbing power of the cat tongue -- I'm not sure that it's possible to clean the plate any cleaner than he did. I think it's clear that the cats appreciate Thanksgiving at least as much as we do...

That's only four ounces. We had a similar situation last week. The traditional 'last meal' is turkey & clean-out-the-fridge soup. Having a large chest freezer made things more convienent, we simply dumped the carcess into it until we were ready to deal with it. However, by the time we had put the bird in 'da big stew pot', covered it with water and cleaned out the fridge, we had nearly three gallons of soup. It was good 'though. :D (And our 'poultry inspectors' Ragnall, Gingalen, and Vesta all gave it two dewclaws up. :D)
