Continuing on today's subject of intellectual property: here's a very interesting article in Ars, talking more broadly about copyright law. It examines an admittedly quixotic proposal by professor Jessica Litman, who is advocating a wholesale revamp of copyright law, on the grounds that the current system is arcane to the point of counterproductive, and badly skewed in favor of distributors rather than creators. She admits that there is little chance of her proposal being taken up in this form in the current political climate, but it appears to be a fine way to engage a conversation that I expect to become ever more important in the next decade...
