I've gradually accumulated a fair number of political spam lists, from donations to various worthy causes. ("ACT" -- words behind the initials long forgotten -- seems to have been the worst offender. The nice thing about owning our own domain is that I know *exactly* who is selling my email address.) I tend to let them keep sending, due to some combination of wanting to know what's in the air, being a glutton for punishment, and sheer morbid curiosity.
Today's contribution is bylined by Sen. Kerry, but clearly is part of the well-named "DSCC Rant" series from the Democratic Senatorial something-something, my regular reminder that the Democrats are every bit as capable of ugly sectarian rabble-rousing as the Republicans. My attention was caught, however, by the Subject line: "Broadsides".
Of course, it was using the naval-battle metaphor to describe the fights of the next month. But damned if I didn't find myself wishing quite fervently that it was a compilation of nasty-funny political filk (as the common period usage would have it). Now *that* would have gotten me to actually read the damned thing...
