... two days after T tokens officially become worthless, I find a small bag of them.

(But I see in that thread that some people are looking for them as souvenirs, so I suppose they may not be entirely a lost cause...)

Hi! For some reason your post here got turned into a screened comment in my [livejournal.com profile] davis_square post. I don't know if I should unscreen it or not.

The T extended the deadline for turning in tokens to July 20. From http://www.mbta.com/fares_and_passes/charlie/?id=24359

Token Redemption
Effective July 20, 2012, the MBTA will no longer redeem tokens. Due to increased demand to redeem tokens before July 20, 2012, we will continue to accept tokens via fare vending machines at the following locations:

Downtown Crossing, Harvard Square, Riverside, Ruggles, Quincy Center, and Government Center Stations.

Customers will be able to redeem tokens for CharlieCard/Ticket value via Fare Vending Machines at these locations.

The MBTA will also redeem tokens for CharlieCard/Ticket value during normal business hours at the Downtown Crossing Pass Office and 10 Park Plaza, Suite 4730.

How big is your bag, by the way?

Suddenly, you find yourself in possession of a small horde of collectible items. :)

If you find they cannot be redeemed for cash, you might consider using them as gaming tokens until you discover people will actually pay for them as collector items.

The deadline (http://articles.boston.com/2012-07-02/news/32510368_1_paper-tickets-vending-machines-fare-and-service) was put out for another couple of weeks or so.

As Lowell points out, the deadline actually isn't until July 20. But the MBTA has made them much harder to turn in. Until July 1 you could use tokens in Charlie Card vending machines as the equivalent of $1.25 in cash, which was their last selling price before they were eliminated. Now you can only redeem them at a handful of locations.

I still have my Charlie card. Do you think I can pass that off to someone at War?
