Okay, here's a question for the hive mind. From Google Maps in the browser, is there *any* way to get a simple effing list of the places I have starred? This is one of the most absolutely crucial features of Google Maps for me -- it's how I keep track of places where I expect to be going in the near future -- and they have systematically gotten rid of every way I can think of to get to a list of them. (.../maps/myplaces worked until today; now I'm stumped.)

I swear, there is a team at Google whose sole purpose in life is to make their apps *less* useful and *more* annoying: nearly every change over the past year has made things work less and less well for me, to the point where I'm starting to actively drop their apps solely because I'm starting to find them unusable...

Possibly they're getting lessons from Apple in that regard-- it is impossible to attach anything other than a photo to an email from an iPad.

Clearly the two are colluding to make everyone's lives difficult.

After about 20 minutes, I found it. It's the oh-so-intuitive https://www.google.com/bookmarks/

Thanks; working at Google Maps, I didn't know that. :-)

At least it's not hard to remember, once you know it. I can only assume the point of that name is that it potentially contains non-map-related bookmarks as well as starred places. But how hard would it have been to keep the existing ".../maps/myplaces" interface (which I also didn't know about)? That's the whole point of public interfaces: they're not supposed to lose advertised functionality.

I can't believe that they make me re-download my offline maps EVERY MONTH! Anyone know a workaround for that?

I think they're trying to keep them up-to-date.

Now, if I could actually use the offline maps to get directions from point A to point B -- I'm in an area that has little to no cell coverage, and I'm not always at a hotspot.

1) Is there a way to automatically update maps when on wifi? I can't find it.
2) Is there a way to use a map that is 'out-of-date' when in an area with no coverage and I am lost? This is a way of making their app *dangerous*, to avoid some remote chance that roads have changed in the last *month*.
3) The maps are *tiny*; I have a 48 GB on my phone, why can't I have a map of all Maine?
4) There is no simple way to get complete coverage over a large area, that I can find.

Google should know better. Way better. It leaves me with the unpleasant suspicion that they are gimping their own program to make money.

Ah, features that are being disabled or hidden. Like Advanced Search functionality
