*Finally* realized that the reason I keep having difficulty using this microwave manually is that that button there, the one next to "Power Level", the one that by all rights *should* say "Set Time" actually says "Set Clock". The "Cooking Time" button is on a completely different section of the keypad.

I think I'll split the blame here, between my poor powers of observation and the comically bad UX...

Read anything by author Donald Norman. Particularly "The Design of Everyday Things". He realized that with a PhD, he can't be stupid, but he still had trouble operating daily devices, therefore the fault must be in the design. There's some fun anecdotes. Extreme high-end copy machines are purchased by law firms because they look impressive, but the secretaries who need to run them, don't know how to use the majority of its functions.

Nor do they actually *need* the majority of its functions, or so is my experience with that type of copy machine.

I saved $100 by purchasing the second-most-expensive microwave GE had to offer because the most expensive one had a terrible UI. 90% of my microwave use requires one button press with my preferred UI.
