Currently having to use all my willpower to avoid contributing to a thread that is remarkably full of stupid. It originally started with someone being a smidgeon too honest about their motivations for a decision that was, on its own, entirely reasonable. (Those motivations entirely aside.) And now it has exploded into shouting and yelling and misrepresentations, and intellectually I know that joining in would just increase my tsurrus level for no benefit, but man it is hard to not wade in and call the BS out.
Sigh.
No, it's probably not anything you're thinking of -- I suspect nobody reading this is in the community in question. Suffice it to say, Stupid Politics are universal. (And the tech world is capable of significantly more insidious crap than the SCA at its worst.)
And no, I haven't had much to say here lately. Sorry about that. Life is Very, Very Busy right now. I'm in the process of transitioning jobs (kinda-sorta), work isn't leaving me a lot of time for distractions during the day, and my "spare" time is consumed with:
- Working on Querki (which had gone a bit fallow for a while, but is back under active development)
- Slowly trying to get the Boston Scala Meetup (which I am now officially the solo organizer for) back on its feet
- Helping a friend set up a new website
- Taking the big software project that I build for Arisia last year, making it much bigger (and much more official), and recruiting a team to work on that. (Anybody want to come learn to code in Querki? Training provided -- should be cool and fun!)
- And oh, yes -- inventorying a ton of books for the Carolingian Yard Sale at Otter's Welcome (y'all come by!)
So -- busy. Fun, mind -- I had gone into a bit of a funk for a few months, and I'm finally getting my head on straight and remembering just how much I enjoy all of this. But my plate is now quite full, so I'm not posting much aside from Dotty News in my professional blog and the usual miscellaneous links to Facebook and Pluspora (which seems to have won the "where are all the G+ users going" lottery among my friends).
Waves hi -- how's by you?

Ditto! The Walk was a good time, and I hope we do it again next year...
