Just got back from grocery shopping. On the way there, I had my iPod on shuffle for my Road Music playlist, as usual. This playlist has, no shit, 3861 tracks (and growing), about ten continuous days of music. What can I say? I like variety.

What does it play me, out of that massive lineup?

"Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult, and Chris de Burgh's "Don't Pay the Ferryman".

Seriously -- I like a little bit of random synchronistic editorializing now and then. (That's why the buttons.) But that's a little on the nose, doncha think?

I can't place what book it was - it may have been more than one - but there was at least one book in which the main character did divination by means of random scans on his car radio to see what songs came up. Sounds like you're working on it.

Sounds like something out of one of the Dirk Gently novels.

Devastasia put together an Apoca-playlist which was pretty good. Wide-ranging in style and genre, she had things like "Fever", "Don't Stand So Close to Me", and "End of the World". So missed "Down with the Sickness" and "Dancing With Myself", though ;-)

Earlier this week, I sat down to collate a bunch of info about Covid-19 and iTunes threw the techno remix of "Still Alive" at me. Aside from "make a neat gun", it's startlingly apropos for various pieces of what's going on.

I've got over 26000 tracks in my music library and I'm always amused when it pulls a stunt like this too.

No joke, my phone randomly starting playing music at 3am last night. The song: "Wake Up Dead" (Arlo Guthrie)

Some day, after the machines ascend, we'll discover they were always trying to communicate via playlists and predictive keyboards...
