One of the joys of doing a new sport is finding out the next day which muscles it was exercising.

Tubing apparently exercises muscles beneath the underarms, just back from the sides. These presumably are the "holding on for dear life" muscles. (They also presumably have a more technical name, but this is currently the easiest way to think of them...)

Science!

See, you went for this offsite meeting to do brainstorming, so those muscles must be used for thinking, right? That's why they hurt. The tubing was a red herring.

Latissimus Dorsi, I believe. Used to pull your arms down to your sides.

Huh

The one time I did tubing, there was no boat involved; just a bunch of us in inner tubes, floating down a quiet river in West Virginia. Much more peaceful. :-)
