You know it's snowing fast when...
Dec. 9th, 2005 03:15 pm... you finish shoveling the bottom of the driveway, only to find that another two inches have piled up at the top. (It's word time, boys and girls! The word of the day is "Sisyphean". Can you say "Sisyphean"? I knew you could.)
... you go inside and find that your black hat is entirely white. This is because there are 1.5 inches of snow encrusted onto it, as smoothly as if applied by a pastry chef. (Why, yes -- my name does seem to be Frosty.)
I do hope that all the people who were so disappointed at not getting their snowstorm on Tuesday are now properly satisfied...

Having realized that January is filling up fast, we figure we'd better claim a date for our housewarming party.
So pencil it in: we'll be having a housewarming on Sunday, January 8th. (Which is clear of all conflicts that we've heard about.) We'll start midafternoon (3ish) and finish sometime in the evening (probably 10ish); folks should come by for whatever part of that that works for them. More details as we get closer to the date, but y'all come on by!

"Bombogenesis"
Dec. 9th, 2005 03:45 pmThat's the technical term they're using to describe today's storm, with a well-defined bullseye centered -- well, a little north of where I'm sitting. But what a fun word. Doesn't quite lend itself to the "smock" treatment, but it sounds really good when intoned with a deep and potentous voice. Deserves James Earl Jones going "Bombogenesis"...
