... you finish shoveling the bottom of the driveway, only to find that another two inches have piled up at the top. (It's word time, boys and girls! The word of the day is "Sisyphean". Can you say "Sisyphean"? I knew you could.)

... you go inside and find that your black hat is entirely white. This is because there are 1.5 inches of snow encrusted onto it, as smoothly as if applied by a pastry chef. (Why, yes -- my name does seem to be Frosty.)

I do hope that all the people who were so disappointed at not getting their snowstorm on Tuesday are now properly satisfied...

I'll be satisfied when I get home and shovel my driveway.

I do love this stuff, I just hate driving in it. Not because driving in it is so bad, but because the other drivers suck. :-)

I loved snow, but I hated shoveling, I hated the fact that it was always me (Aldric was working a schedule where he didn't have to be at work until 11, and he had a 4Runner and so didn't need shoveled...) shoveling, and I hated that I had to be telepathic (a prophet?) and set the alarm an hour or two early in order to get up in time to shovel and not be late to work. (I had finally decided to get a snowblower the winter before we moved to CA.)

I learned to drive in the stuff in North Carolina, amazingly (I figured those of us driving school buses would be fine if they'd get the idiot cars off the road...), and honed my skills in Massachusetts.

There are days I miss it. Honest.

I think most people would agree that shoveling is a household chore and is to be shared, one way or another, Pat. I've already told you what I think of Alderic so we'll just skip that part.

I don't mind shoveling, but today it was an hour and a half of snowblowing and the job is half done-- enough to let John park in the driveway. The kids mostly had fun playing while I did it, though.

I heard Elizabeth shouting at the snow at one point. She was shouting "Melt! Melt!"

Can you say "Sisyphean"?

And can you put the accent on the right syllable? Good for you!

And really fast is when...

you clear your *vehicle* off and there's another two inches of snow on the hood when you've just cleared the back window...

Nobody believes me, but once in a while we get snow measured in FEET per hour.

Nanook of the...er,

Yup, snowthrower time...
