My main credit in the gaming world was spending a year or two at Looking Glass Studios working on System Shock 2, generally rated as one of the best games of all time. At the time, we had every intention of making a sequel (and a few of the ideas we tossed around showed up in Bioshock, which was made by some of the same folks), but the rights to System Shock itself have been a complete mess for the past 15 years.

But it looks like that's finally come together: as has been rumored for a while, Otherwise Entertainment, which is in many ways the successor to Looking Glass, has acquired the necessary rights, and has announced that they are beginning to develop System Shock 3.

They're big shoes to fill -- SS2 got an awful lot right in terms of gameplay, story and atmospherics -- but I'm hopeful. It's pretty neat to see at least some of the band back together again...
