... or does "Known World Rattan Symposium" just sound utterly dippy? I get this image of a bunch of guys passing around pieces of furniture. Surely there exists a better name.

(Okay, yes -- "Known World Dance Symposium" is little better. But I've been arguing for calling that "The Laurel Academy of Dance" for years now...)

Yeah, the correct term for KWRS is "Pennsic".

"Rattan" only makes sense if the main focus is the *rattan*. If the main focus is heavy list, it should say that instead.

Known world armored combat symposium?

Academy of Armored combat?

I have more problem with the word "symposium" and 95% of the Northern Army, :p
More like fight club :D

Thanks, now I'm picturing fighters sitting in those huge wicker chairs with the big round backs, sipping on mint juleps...

Clearly, it's both fighting and furniture, followed by a combination event, whereby they apply the "hit it with a stick" test to find out whether furniture is Arts or Sciences. :-)

Where is the Salon?

Just saw "Known World Academy of Rapier" on SCA Today. This conversation has reminded me that I keep wishing that we would teach rapier and fencing in a Salon, not an academy.
