Whee. The combination of slipping the next version of Windows and a nicely anonymous blog have let loose an impressive burst of internal vitriol. If you're in the mood for some schadenfreude at Microsoft's expense, it's worth a dig through, especially the comments.

(And may I just note that "schadenfreude" was not in my vocabulary until [livejournal.com profile] ladysprite introduced me to the Avenue Q soundtrack? Just goes to show that the Sesame Street paradigm of education is still sound today...)

Read that blog posting and more. Vista is garbage... but I didn't need to read the post to understand that. After pulling feature after feature, you're left with a shallow attempt to "innovate" by trying to deliver something that "looks like" Mac OS X. With the dual-booting hacks on MacTel machines, paired with the rumor that Apple will have future hardware and the next rev of OS X able to support simulataneous boots (like Classic and OS X now, only with Linux or Win2000, or XP, etc), and the slight chance that Apple licenses OS X... it could be a serious kick in the Balmer/Gates crotch that so many would love to see.

MS keeps disappointing. I guess this is the fruit of their monopololistic ways... having to support so much legacy crud that its bogged everything down. Who is gonna have the hardware to even run Vista? The whole thing is a big fat joke. Nothing wrong with Win2000... so many don't even need XP. .Net has been a flop, passport has been a flop, MS search is a joke, Vista (Longwait) will just be a really expensive flop. Oh well.
